... painting your pet’s uniqueness on canvas forever
in

David captured the essence of Jack perfectly.. I imagine his many years experience as a portrait photographer makes him unique in being able to capture those perfect moments which he is able to translate into a painting. We have lost our dear Jack so this amazing painting is very special to us.

Last year, as a birthday gift for my husband, I commissioned David to paint a portrait of our beloved 13 year old spaniel 'Goose'. Goose is a particularly sweet-natured dog, very gentle and loving, and quite inseperable from my husband.

What absolutely thrilled me about the painting that David produced was not simply that it was an extremely good likeness of our pet, but that it quite brilliantly captured Goose's gentle expression, right down to his very slightly lop-sided smile. There is absolutely no doubt that the painting is of Goose, rather than simply being a good painting of a spaniel. The likeness is quite extraordinary! Needless to say, my husband was delighted with his birthday present.

Freddie - aged 6 months... just the funniest puppy to get to sit still!

This puppy is Freddie... but she is a girl. Freddie is a mischevious little 'chewer' and all who meet her fall in love with her.

I became an artist for pet portraits about three years ago after a life-long love of animals and painting, and a career as a photographer. I put down my camera and picked up a paintbrush and never looked back! The perfect portrait painting is not dissimilar to a photograph in that it must capture that essential character of the subject be that a human, dog portrait, cat portrait, horse portrait or even hamster!

I have painted portraits of many pets for many occasions such a birthday gifts

A pet portrait painting just like your pet, is an individual entity and when creating one I look closely for those distinguishing features that make us all unique.

I prefer to set my subjects within a natural background, be it a hint of greenery or an old armchair, importantly taking care not to distract the viewers eye from the subject. I feel it give the painting more of a sense of realism than a plain, sterile backdrop.

When possible, I like to travel and meet you  and the character I’m painting a portrait of and create an exclusive portfolio of pet photography. Using my own reference photographs of your pet allows me a more intimate understanding. If you are planning a surprise for someone else, we may have to devise a plan in order to gain access to their pet!

My medium is oil on canvas and once your pet painting is complete I am happy and able to deliver it in person if feasible.

If you like the examples shown in my gallery and would like to chat further I’d be delighted to hear from you be phone or e-mail.
